View Full Version : Worlds First 808 Pro ”E”
TDC57

Good day team,
Here is my latest money pit, a new 808 PRO E, after extensive research on numerous forums I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the worlds first pro built “E” not that I'm pro builder (couldn’t be father from the truth) but all of the aftermarket “BLING” on it puts it in the “Pro built category”.
Basically I was so fricken impressed with my 808, I went out and bought all of the aftermarket parts available for and 808 and then realized I couldn’t put them all on a used / dirty 808 so I bit the bullet and well here we are several $$$ later.

Just an FYI I have the front alu steering blocks coming on Thursday and yes I'm a long ways off from completion but give me two weeks and I'll be beating it at the track.
For what it's worth
I'm getting a 1512 2.5d S for it (DB if you want to upgrade I’ll buy your motor?) and plan on running it on 4s 30C 4500mAH. Gearing will be either 46/18 or 42/15, I’ll run 5k in the front and rear diff and 30k in the center and since Mike doesn’t have these in stock I’ve got MetalMan fabbing me up a motor mount as I write this post.
Thanks for your time gentlemen and have a great day..
Shaun.

Man, Shaun, I think you have more invested in the handful of vehicles you have that I have in everything I own!!!
That buggy looks too nice to use, it really looks great! I am not into shelf queens, but I would have a hard time getting that dirty...

Nice one..
I don't understand the 'swiss 7075 T6' aluminum though, looks like a 'made in china' cover to me.. :)
Didn't knew the standard for 7075 in Switzerland is better than anywhere else.. I know chinese people have got their own selective way of thinking in whether to label a material 7075 or not..

I doubt that xray would use some cheap aluminium. I think they put engraved writting to clearly make difference between Integy/gpm blings and xray stuff.
It's just odd that xray who did write few month ago a column about that they don't agree about blings and aftermarket because that car was made to work properly out of the box and that result of using blinbling was people complaing about the car handle poorly. Obviously most of the time the cause was due to the bling bling added ...

Looks nice! When you are finished with this it will have to be the most expensive 1/8 buggy on the planet.
I'm curious to see if it stays just as durable as it is in its stock form once all of the plastic is replaced with aluminum. I'm wondering if the aluminum parts will now have no flex and put more stress on the plastic parts that are left.
What are you doing with the "old" E-808? (1 month old. lol)

i mean xray doesn't need to say they use good quality aluminum, but to advertise with 'swiss 7075' is pathetic if you ask me.

Nice Shaun, another sweet ride, you know I love the bling too lol. Now you can use the other used one as a true basher and not feel bad about messing it up lol. I agree about the swiss emblem, it kind of looks like Mercedes putting an Italian Leather emblem all over their seats, who needs to point out quality. Then again the Swiss are too arrogant to mine their own Steel and damage their environment, so its all highly refined imported steel. Enjoy the sweet ride !

Without a doubt backfire and then jhautz were the first to build a bad ass “E” 808, hell I learned from them!, this however is a 808 E Pro (hence the BLING!) all of the alum puts it in the class all by it’s self , not me. Don’t get me wrong anyone with an 808 can do it, I'm just posting the first one in progress..

I did that with my M18MT. Built it and tried to drive it without gluing the tires. I didn't think it would make much difference, wrong. I couldn't get the car to go anywhere.

Actually Shaun we are on the tail end of the move. We are still in San Francisco for another week visiting with other family members. We are leaving with the kids in tow for Hawaii on 02/August for a few days of paradise before the final leg of the trip. Vegas was great and we managed to win enought to pay for that leg of the trip, plus an extra $500 in our pockets. We just love Vegas.
I hope to take the kids on the Hawaiian ATV mountain tour for some outdoor adventure while we are there, and the wife insists on going to the Polonesian Cultural Center for the usual island tourist adventure so the kids get the full package. We will finally be in Korea by 07/August to move into the new house. All I know so far is that it is a 5 bedroom/ 3 bath that has been just refurbished. So at least there is a hobby room for the trucks. Thanks for the humanity support and don't worry we will be getting things rolling with the Maxx collection soon after we get settled. The boys are extremely anxious about getting started. I will get some photos up before Xmas for sure. Have a good one Shaun.

As for the weight differences no not yet, but I did order a special scale that goes to the grams so I’ll have it all figured out soon.
For what it’s worth,
Per the replays I’ve received from the Teamxray site the total weight difference between the Alu and the stock is like 40 grams..
We’ll see..
Have a great one and I’ll see you in few hours..

Hey SHaun it is not that I do wish to share info/photos, but as you well know I have been a bit busy with matters of greater importance. We are in transit right now and not having the means or the resources to post up photos is a problem. It will be mid August before we are actually settled in to our new home and then we have to unpack all of the toys for me to have access. Sorry for teasing you, but life goes on. Plus I have to figure out how to post up stuff in the way of photos as I have never done that before. My skills are limited when it comes to the PC.
I do love the builds that I have done, but I am sure that there have been many just like them in one place or another. Still they are pretty cool to me. Sorry for pushing your patients to the limit, but I will get them up on here soon. Have a good day gents.

But that will never happen..:na:
Does the new one have the proline 808 body? If so any comparisions on room under the body? specifically the battery area?
The latest / new one is the right side with the old 808 body..
As for under room comparisons, the pro line body has a total of 46mm height off the deck, the 808 body has 44mm off the deck.. Or another way to look at it is:
I can use 4500mAH on my 808 body and 5000mAH with my pro line body before I need to shim it up..
Hope that helps and thanks for the comments..
Have a great day

All but Germany, I just cant find it in me to do the Nazi thing.. But I'm hopping to have everything else and then I can get a bunch of buddies together and have dogfights..:intello: of course after a few toties
You cant really bash a Xray, racing only I hope lol. That would hurt to see one bashed!
Those are both awesome buggies! You have some DEEEEEEP pockets to afford all that LOL
Sure I can, I'm an equal opportunity basher, :intello::lol:
Thanks for the kind words.. It does take some deep pockets, but as long as the wife thinks it $300 buggy (I show her adds in from hobby people on something else) heee hee I'm always good to go.:na:. Not quite @ linc $500 a month habit, but close..:intello:
Shaun,
Sorry I didn't reply sooner (hope you didn't have to figure out I wasn't there!). I had to get up at 6am this morning and got ready quickly to leave for a full day of hiking up in the San Bernardinos. Unfortunately I didn't have time to read the forums until now.
However on Friday I'll be working the opening shift, 11am-4pm.
40 grams is nothing! Just hope they aren't lying to you...
No worries sir.. thanks for the invite to the races.. I’ll be stopping by tomorrow for some more of your custom work..
I ordered up a scale that should be here any day.. Once I get it I'm striping down both ride (time permitted) and doing weighing comparison.. We’ll see exactly how much weight it adds..
Have a great one and I’ll see you in a few hours..
Shaun.
Fantastic builds , i'm drooling .
Thanks FFactory66.. It’s been a blast to build and cannot express enough how much XRay products are some dam impressive. I just love them and I cannot thank the team enough for pointing me in the this direction a few month back when I asked the question what should I build next.. YOU GUYS ROCK!... I love this site..

Tell me about it , i have spent over $3000 in the last month . I'm the bank manager in the house:great:
I have to say after reading your whole build i don't think i have ever seen anyone on a forum quote and reply to every ones comments before , and being so polite:surprised:
I too love my fighter planes and warbirds and love your themes , but going with the Germans what about the German version of the Eurofighter .
You could get the top of the buggy painted like the cockpit with the windows and then have rivets / panels painted on the body since the fighter is only one boring colour.
Don't forget the German cross either on the sides :mdr:

Thanks you for the kind words, I like to take the time to thank everybody who stops buy and says hay.. This is a great site with some truly fanatic individuals with quite a few of different / funny personalities so for me it's worth every moment..
I do like your idea on the open cockpit, I've got rivets on a one buggy build now and one on my GM build with rust leaking out behind each rivet, bullet holes on the side of fus, ect. It's been a blast and since I'm the only one doing it at the moment by project always stand out (just a little) from everybody else’s. Much like BB16 loves to say "I feel special now"
Thanks for your time and have a great weekend..
Shaun.
P.s.
NO Germany!.. I just can do it!..

There aluminum hop part are expensive but it's not Integy aluminium...
You can keep the buggy with default equipement, This is still one if not the most robust buggy on the market. 2 people here sell there brand new RC8 for a 808. our track is very unforgiving, Even on a short run (1 hour) you can see the difference.
Price is hight because Xray is made in Europe and the actual currency is the Euro.
Right now
1 € = 1.52 $
I supsect Xray to make almost no margin on US market.

I can relate to your pain... My mbx-5 started out nitro and set up was $ 1,200-. Now add the BL conversion, 6 batts. RCM mount, 1512, MGM & MMM esc V1, etc......
All in all total investment is roughly...$ 2,500- I did sell some of the nitro stuff to help w/some purchases. All in all this is a v/expensive hobby, but seeing my buggy fly in the air and go by me doing 40+ mph. I realize that it is worth all the trouble and money. Besides, there are a lot of OTHER hobbies we could be doing that are not so on the up and up.....

Mr T.. I like that name!..
Anyway.. sorry.. I defiantly agree I still have my stock 808 and have not broken anything on it yet!, it takes a complete beating and is just assume at the track.. I don’t agree that X-Ray isn’t making any money, actually they just raised all of there prices across the board (I think 12%). And due to the fact that the stock 808 cost $599 and the Alm is $504 (something is just wrong!). but nobody forced me to get all this stuff personnel choice 100%..
Thanks for your time and for stopping by..
Have a great day Sir.

It’s just a Traxxas 3905 rx box off eBay for like $7.00 then I have some industrial Velcro for the bottom to the top of the servo box. I’ve only lost one box during a horrendous crash.. I’ll pm you some pictures of it soon.
