EVERYTHING I have ever heard or seen is 4S max.

You can do it. A 2s on the BEC lead and a 3s on the non-BEC lead. Just keep in mind that it's out of warranty.

IIRC, Novak themselves did this with their HV Maxx at the World's Fastest RC Car Challenge.

Apparently the new HV-pro can handle the voltage better than the original HV-maxx anyway.

Novak did indeed use 5s with the hvmaxx. I have been running 6s a123 through a novak super duty for a couple of years now. I use a fan but so far so good.

Thats what he said- 6s A123 is equal to 5s lipo.

No, I have a super duty. Novak used 5s lipo with the hv though.

The superduty and hv share the same basic internal layout I believe, just one is a sensored BL esc, and the other a brushed motor esc- same specs if you go by what Novak have listed, so the same voltages should work on both. I seem to recall them sayig it got rather toasty though doing the 100mph runs...
