I'm having a problem with glitching and blowing up gears. I thing the tranny case is flexing a little and the gears are not meshing right. Do you guys think a single speed conversion might help this problem? I stay in second gear anyways.

I would think it would help. I just installed the gmaxx kit tonight and the aluminum is stiffer and it eliminates length of the input shaft. Shorter would be better for less flex. There are other bennies as well. one less servo and much fewer moving parts in the trans.

If you run the second gears all the time. I would say get the single kit. It would make the tranny stronger to.

here, this (http://rc.stuurmijmail.nl/Emaxx/FLM%20singlespeed/index.html) is what it looks like in detail, you might need a proper idler gear too. The aluminum gearcase is 40 dollars. (FLM)

Nice pics. I think I'm gonna go that route
Check the ends of your motors, (back) if they bounce around you'll bend the motor mount and eat gears.....I shimmed mine on the bottom where the endbell and chassis are..........helped alot......Evo

Does Mike sell the UE steel output gear? 31 teeth.

That is a nitro part, Captain. pretty sure UE only makes an idler for the e-maxx.

Probably you did not get the whole picture, Mike. I meant the big gear inside the tranny which is under the idler gear directly. I've seen several people use them in their trucks, though.

I am well aware of the 31 tooth output gear, Captain! But UE doesn't make one! UM made an all metal gear set that included both output gears in metal(36 and 31 tooth), but UE only made a forward only conversion for the niro truck. The only emaxx tranny part the UE made is the idler gear.

Oh, sorry. I thought UE is the one that makes them. Well, how much would UtraMaxx 31 output gear cost?

Ultra Maxx stopped making their full transmissions a while back, you'd have to find someone willing to sell one on ebay or something similar. Otherwise, you could have someone CNC Cad one, or 20 to cut costs, but then you'd have to sell them all.

I only want the 31 teeth output gear. Though I'm not in real need.

I don't think it is going to be a direct fit either to gmaxx single speed. It has a different hole shape.

Leroy, do you use a steel output gear with the 2250/10 setup? How does the tranny hold up with it?

he uses a center diff instead of a e tranny.
p.s.- the ultramaxxed 1st and 2nd speed gears were aluminum not steel.

I have put a 9xl on 20 cells on the tranny with no failures. I have a center diff for the 2250. It needs a hi gearing for drive train. My final drive is 10.5 to 1. It pulls it no problem. I plan on further testing of motors and such to. If I break it up. I will let you know.

With a single speed, the stock output gear will hold up to some serious power! IMO, a metal output gear is not necessary. I could make the 36 tooth ouput gear from steel(I have the gear stock), but I haven't found any 31 tooth stock for the 2nd speed ouput.

Rc4wd is making all metal emaxx gears. Due early this year.
