quick question are the RacerX arms longer than the stock arms?
and if so how much?
i c the setbacks say there 22mm longer are the front arms longer too?

Serum
02.04.2007, 03:23 PM
No, they are the same width. The setbacks extend the truck with 23mm, they don't make it any wider.

Serum

1 minute.. That's a quick answer...

Gundam-Guy
02.04.2007, 04:05 PM
lol yea real quick

Gundam-Guy
02.04.2007, 04:06 PM
so why are the RacerX so good?

Sylvester
02.04.2007, 04:47 PM
Its because they eliminate the rear upper arms with turnbuckles, look great and are strong. 1 problem with them is pillowballs break easily.

Serum
02.04.2007, 04:51 PM
7075 aluminum, unique geometry. and they didn't take the easy route in machining them..

Pretty damn pricy, too. They're worth the money, though.

sjcrss
02.05.2007, 09:09 AM
that's odd, I have never broke a PB, heck im still running my original stock ones from when i got my maxx, back in 2001.....

Gundam-Guy
02.05.2007, 02:46 PM
are they better than the FlexTek arms?

Sylvester
02.05.2007, 03:19 PM
For racing yes, but for bashing the flex of the flextechs are nicer.

coolhandcountry
02.05.2007, 03:20 PM
They are different. Like apples to grapefruit comparsion. flex tech good basher.

sjcrss
02.05.2007, 03:21 PM
this is how the suspesnions break down in order of quality & performance ( this is my take on it...

Racer X- (best suspension made --widetrac, Racer X)
Gorilla maxx (2nd)
FLM (3rd)
Flextech (4th)
RPM (5th)
Integy (6th)
stock (7th)

Gundam-Guy
02.05.2007, 03:25 PM
rpm isnt even on your list?
but i looking for the best arms for my racebomb i plan on raceing and bashing it what do u guyz think i should go?

Sylvester
02.05.2007, 03:29 PM
If you can afford the UE, id take those out of all of them.

sjcrss
02.05.2007, 03:41 PM
oops, i forgot about them....edited post

sjcrss
02.05.2007, 03:42 PM
definately Racer x.....if you can afford it

My list would be like this ;

1-Racer X
2-Flextech
3-G-maxx
4-FLM
5-RPM
6-Stock
7-Integy

sjcrss

coolhandcountry
02.05.2007, 03:52 PM
Me personally would take the flm over gmaxx.
It has better price and stronger to.

Gundam-Guy
02.05.2007, 03:57 PM
racer x it is then
what kind of diff should i run now

sjcrss
02.05.2007, 04:02 PM
well , you can do the following...
hybrid bulks with UE 6 or 8 spyder diffs or run the HB diffs inside, or run UE 6 or 8 spyder with UE diff cases, or flm or maximizer diff cups with stock gears in a aluminum diff case....it really depends on how much $ you have to spend or want to spend....also the UE & HB diffs are sealed so you can run diff fluid in them, while the others are not....

Sylvester
02.05.2007, 04:26 PM
wow stock above integy..lol that is funny
IMO integy is pure junk, we both forgot the GPM arms which would be Under integy arms! :005:

sjcrss
02.05.2007, 04:31 PM
very true, actually , we forgot CNC machine, hardcore racing, and im sure there is others, but after you drop down to rpm.....no sense keeping track.....

Sylvester
02.05.2007, 04:36 PM
Yea, anything below RPM is useless, only for show.

Mike.L
02.06.2007, 08:34 AM

I would put FLM suspension before the Gmaxx suspension unless you are a racer...

Sylvester

Id second what newe said, with my old max i had ALOT of problems with the G3 suspension, should have got FLM.

I didn't so much as have problems, but I found a better alternative to bash with is all. And, I didn't do to bad and getting back some jing when i sold the gmaxx sus. But, I will say, for the weight, the G3 is top notch stuff! And it handles like a dream too!

One thing i didnt like is the shocktowers, they bent like butter.

Interesting, I never had a problem with the towers, but can see how so. I had a problem with the front arms hitting trees! LOL

Sylvester
02.07.2007, 04:48 PM
LOL! I also wasnt a fan of the little hinges which are on the arms which connect the shocks.

neweuser

LOL! I also wasnt a fan of the little hinges which are on the arms which connect the shocks.
yeah, they were weak! I stopped replacing them altogether, it was not worth it! And the set screws that went into the pillow balls, they ruined the threads on the pillow balls and it was PITA to remove those!

Sylvester
02.07.2007, 05:01 PM
Looks like we had similar problems.. the G4 race suspension better have some improvements! :)

neweuser
02.07.2007, 05:16 PM
I'm sure he will. Plenty of new guys around that will, that is forsure.

Sylvester
02.07.2007, 05:19 PM
That is, if it is well priced. Even if i were a racer, i think id go with flextech since it is technically indestructable.

I heard somewhere around here that some one has broke them...and that they have TOO much flex in them...not sure where though, have you seen it?

Sylvester

Robin is the owner of UE.. Newe, johnnymaxima on these forums broke one, but got free replacement. They do flex alot but you are garanteed for life.

My list would be like this ;

1-Racer X
2-Flextech
3-G-maxx
4-FLM
5-RPM
6-Stock
7-Integy

To be honest, my list would be like this:

1-Racer-X
2-Integy Type 3 Pro
3-G-Maxx
4-Harcore
5-FLM
6-RPM
7-Flextech
8-Stock

I know, I know, the Integy is junk, but to be honest, I don't think the Type 3 is all that bad. If Leroy didn't break it, then you know its not bad...

Gundam-Guy
02.07.2007, 08:48 PM
are the Integy Type 3 Pro really that good?

squeeforever
02.07.2007, 10:02 PM
I don't know. I've never run it, but its basically a rip-off of the Racer-X. I would choose Racer-X, but if I couldn't afford the UE, I would get the Integy.

If you can find it still, yeah. But I would go FLM just the fact of the warranty, and they are close to UE as well.

Hardcore racing's arms are cool, but they're a direct replica of the stock suspension as far as I know.

There are Racer-X arms on ebay pretty regularly, FYI.

I love my Racer-X 's. I had the UE Widetrack's before the Racer-X's. UE is the best!

Gundam-Guy

anyone seen a set around for cheap? mike can get me some new but 400$ will hurt im just a poor working man lol:018:

neweuser

Did you ask Mike if he could only get a pair? If so and he can't, the only other thing I coud tell you is ask on the UE forums....

thanx for link
one more thing, are the 5mm set pins necessary if i lock tight the pillow balls

sjcrss
03.06.2007, 05:23 PM
yes, if your talking about the 5mm set screws that go in from the inside of the arms toward the end of the pillow ball...then yes you should use them...they help lock everything in, also use loctite on the pillowballs, but not hte retainers ...ok

Procharged5.0
03.06.2007, 05:25 PM
Use loctite on the nex nuts also.

Not a bad idea for weight savings and better appearance.
