and after 2 min runtime onewheel got stuck an i bliped the trottle and CRUNCH" and the top two geras inside the cenrer gearbox stripped out :(
are there any bulitproof gearboxes that would fit ?
the center driveaxles are traxxasstyle telescope shafts made for 5mm output shafts.

i think that the most durable sulution would be a outrunner in direktdrive
i have a bigger motor 42x50 850kv ,with 5mm shaft would this bee enough ?
this is an 2.2 crawler

Hey guys, I got a mini 8ight about a month ago and thought i'd share the custom mods i've done to it.

First, I stripped everything out a slapped my extra vxl system and batteries from my mini revo in since it should put out a little more power and to sell the other electronics for some extra cash.

I knew I needed something to cover the gears asap so I stole some excess lexan from my e-maxx body before painting or cutting it. This has now been replaced by half of a Delrin gear cover (split in half mounting so I left the other half off)

Next, I needed to better battery trey since my batteries were too big for the stock trey.

I also needed a lot more room to work with under the body and wanted something that would help protect the body, so I cut and fitted body mounts off of my mini revo (spare parts from replacing the fronts so much) and ordered a thin revo body

I knew the wing would get torn up quickly due to wheelies and I hated that their is not rear skid at all so I got a t-bone racing rear bumper, cut it to a decent size, and mounted some cheap wheels I had laying around

2 Losi 18.5v 25c 4000mah (10s)

I guess I have two questions

1. What plugs do I run....I've only had up to 6s and I just did deans
2. I thought this motor was only capable of 8s tops....but the 5s lipos came with new....am I asking for trouble.
Well I knew this was the only place to get solid reliable feedback so...thanks in advance.

Strobe Sprong and Adjuster Nut Replacements

...

I have done a thread like this before and sold out of these, so I'm going to make another run of them since I have had a few people request them.

These are not Strobe parts, but rather parts that I have made as replacements with permission from the original producer of the Strobe parts. There are noticeable differences between what I have made and the original Strobe parts. I have also asked Robin if it is ok for me to start a thread like this and offer these parts and he said it was fine with him.

These parts were done just like the powerstroke parts I did where I made prototypes manually, then had my friend write the program and run them on CNC equipment. The sprongs are all made manually by me.

My sprongs are made out of black Delrin. This is not the same material as the original blue Strobe sprongs, but these have been tested and perform the same as the originals. I have also changed the thickness of the sprong. The reason behind the change is that with the original sprong you couldn't install the sprong, adjuster nut, and the nylon locknut and still have the threads reach the nylon section of the locknut (or at least I never could). So I made the sprongs thinner to allow the locknut to be installed and to have the threads actually reach the nylon part of the nut. I have made sprongs for the original adjuster nut and then also sprongs for my adjuster nut. I can also make a sprong to any thickness you want.

The adjuster nut I have created has no knurled outer edge, but instead it has an 8mm hex nut milled into the back of the nut. The problem I saw with the original was that once it was installed and after it had been used a while it would become very hard to remove. People started putting pliers on the knurled area and would mess up the knurling. With my part you can simply put a Traxxas 8mm wrench on it and tighten or loosen it as needed.

PM me for pricing.

I have actually made and sold about 30 of these already. Lately I have had about 5 people ask me if I have anymore for sale, so I figure I would create a thread to see if there was anyone else interested before I decide how many to run this time.

Blue Strobe sprong compared to my replacement intended to be used with the Strobe adjuster nut.

Srobe sprong and adjuster nut installed and the thread not reaching the nylon

My sprong installed with the Strobe adjuster nut and the thread getting into the nylon

My parts on the left, Strobe parts on the right

I'm in the market for some new 5s lipos for my two truggies.

I'd like to spend somewhere in the $60-85 each on the lipos. I normally look at lipos in the 4500-5500mah range.

What does everyone recommend?

These will be used in a HB D8T with CC 1520 and Tamiya TRF801xT with Tekin 1700 motors. These are just for bashing, I do not race at all.

Thanks,
I know they have 50cc versions but theese notors are cheap an have low effishnsy evel so iwas thinking that by putting in an oversize motor would make a more effishient setup .

What do you guy's think ?

Hey guys, I have just had two traxxas 2.4GHz transmitters go bad on me in the past week. The first had an occasional blip every now and then over the past year and now comes on for a few seconds, the LED starts flashing extremely fast, and keeps flashing slower till it just dies all together. The second I tried to link to the same receiver and after 2-3 mins of trying to link, power just went out completely and now when you turn it on the LED will flash very quickly and stay off. One was a TQ traxxas link, and the new one was the TQi 2-channel. Any idea what may be causing it? I ended up running my car on my friends TQi at a shake park last week and it was fine...

After studying the issue on the internet and looking at pictures online of balance plugs it seems like a 4s balance plug coming from a turnigy battery should be able to plug into a hyperion balance board in the 4s slot. Am I right? The same should be true for 5 and 6s too.

I have been a Hyperion advocate ever since I learned to stay away from Maxamps around in 2008. I still think Hyperion is one of the best if not the best, but I must try Nanotech. The pricing seems irresistible, and it seems like all lipos come from China anyway. Hyperion is in hongkong. I have two 35c 5000mah 4s nanotechs on the way and they took a whole week to leave the USA warehouse. I give them no marks for this slow shipping. I hope to be delighted by the batts.

That is all. Thanks,
