Homemade paddle tires -
11.27.2008, 09:12 PM
Here are some paddles I made in my boredom. Their made out of some old maxx tires. I cut off every other 2 treds, and they work like a charm. Here's a pic.

Very cool. I did that with Masher 2K's a while back.
I am faster than Buzz Lightyear.

They work great. I used them for a long time.
The answer is no. And yes, mine is faster.

I made a set also. They do work well. Balloon up more without the extra lugs though. Fun in as inch or two of packy snow. Throws it everywhere. The last time I used them the E Maxx was still waterproof.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna go out to my grandpa's farm and build a track so I can test them some more. Should I Put them on backwards or forwards? I see that Tempted has them on the right way, which way would be best for sand?

No, I'd leave the tires as is. Did you use a dremel to cut the treads off? Sand them off?

I cut the treds of with an exacto knife then used a dremel to smooth them down.

i think backwards mite give you a little more bite in sand but idk if it'll be enought to really effect anything.

Tempted did this and chewed up alot of diffs in his E-Maxx. Coincidence...maybe. I wondered if he damaged his diffs because when you use these tires on asphalt they grip and slip repeatedly stressing the diffs. If you use these tires in sand this effect would not be seen. Just me thinking.

Nah, I killed diffs on many different tires. It was just my driving style. These tires don't grip any better than stock Chevrons but they drop a huge about of unsprung rotating mass, thus increasing acceleration and reducing temperatures.
The answer is no. And yes, mine is faster.
