It doesn't sound normal to me. Have you tried spinning just the motor when it is not installed? That will tell you if the motor is the problem.

I would think that styrefoam rod cut in half would work too. You can get it at an arts/craft store like Michaels. Nice and firm just get the size closest to the sub c batts.

I thought BrainG and I were the only old ones I'm 34 just got into real RC about a year 1/2 ago. A friend was running a stock EMaxx so I bougyht it off him for 250 with batts and a duratrax twin...
