Been a while since an update on this..... So I got sick of the CVD thing, trying to find different ones that would fit, buying ones that SHOULD fit, and ones that say they fit but don't.....
Enter: Kyosho ST-RR Evo.2 Universals. P/N KYOIS103 or IS103. 130mm in length.
They are 1/8th scale and require 8mm bearings which necessitated the use of and modification of all parts involved. I used Unlimited Engineering knuckles and modified an RPM True Track system. The RPM TT system uses 12x21mm and 6x15mm bearings which obviously would not fit the 8mm outputs on the Kyosho shafts. I drilled a maxx slider out to 8mm where the 6mm output shaft would normally be and cut this off so that it would be a spacer instead of the inner part of the drive shaft. This left me with a piece that was roughly 8x12x4mm which worked PERFECT to space the inner 12x21mm bearing. At this point I hogged out the RPM knuckle until 8x16mm bearings would fit. Once this was done, everything lined up perfectly except the cross pin that attaches the 17mm hub. I found some Losi hubs that fit perfectly, they came from an LST. The RPM TT system has been known for being a few mm longer than a normal Maxx rear end setup, so I used MIP cups on some modified traxxas stub shafts to get the right length. Fits PERFECTLY!!! FINALLY! On the front, I used the UE knuckles which accept the 8x16mm bearings and required the use of regular 1/8 diff outputs instead of the stub shafts and MIP outputs. This setup really has me excited about this truck again.
If anyone can benefit from this, you can pickup the Kyosho shafts for about 25 bucks a pair on eBay and they work GREAT! Super strong as well. I apologize for the crappy pictures, my phone sucks.
