Not only that, but there is also ambiguity in what criteria they use when rating them. 30C? Sure, I'll buy that. But at what pack temperature? How much voltage drop? For how long before the pack is allowed to rest? At what duty cycle?

And for those who think IR might be a good indicator; be aware that the IR at 1C is different than at 10C, and again different at 50C. IR is not just a fixed resistance, but is a value comprised of actual cell conductor resistance (which is pretty constant) coupled with how much the chemical reaction can support higher discharge rates (which is not constant).

Aero-model has the pricing on the new Hacker stuff listed. I had a good laugh when I saw the pricing on some of the car stuff.

You weren't joking either- pretty much twice the price for the ESCs ( compared to the original hobbywing versions )- I'd just hope the customer service was mind bogglingly good/quick for that amount of profit margin...

My take on C ratings is that a burst rating means that a pack can handle a short burst to that amperage (ie for a 4000mah 50c pack that'd be 200 amps) without dropping under 3v/cell. Thats for a charged pack.

If it drops under 3v/cell under that burst, then the pack is overrated.

Thats how I view it anyway.

a millisecond burst, or a 10 second burst? It is all completely meaningless without an industry standard.
