I built a FLM maxx back in 2008 or so and sold it a long time ago. I wish I hadn't so I'm building another one.
This will soon have Mike's chassis on it, because I didn't do my homework before clicking the buy button. I've got UE UltraLites on the way and some Kyosho STRR diffs already converted to Traxxas stubs. I'm pretty sure the Hot Bodies shocks will require CVD's, but it's close. Kyosho springs are on the shocks, 74mm Blue. They seem up to the task but I need to stiffen the oil up a bit. I'm running the 1.3mm pistons in the front, and 1.4mm in the rear. I think I'll be putting the 1.3mm in the rear and going with 45 or 50wt oil. Anyways, here's the progress so far.
Man, looking good! You will love Mike's V-Maxx Chassis. Although I have never run the FLM LCG Chassis, I have read many reports the top plate has weak areas in it's design. Keep the updates coming, and I'd be keen to see what you use for axle duties...
Hey nice Maxx.
Is this a FLM LCG V1 or a new one with the updated Topplate?
Are you running RPM Bulks? I tested them too, but I broke mine after 2min at the Shocktower mount. The Jump wasn't very big. Only 0.5 meters high so nothing big.
Are these D8 rear shocks? How long they are?
The chassis looks different from the earlier versions, so maybe updated? The bulks are temporary, I will be going with GA bulks. These shocks are the 112mm D8T rears with Kyosho 74mm blue springs. I plan on running Mikes chassis in the near future, with center diff. It will likely be sent for anodizing as well.
Haven't pulled the trigger on Mike's chassis yet. I think I'm going to sell this one first. I did get new Traxxas bulkheads, brace, and UE Ultralites that are now installed. I have ordered a RRP 65T steel slipper assembly, but I'm probably going to go with a center diff install on Mike's chassis. I may end up building two trucks.
Added some pretty. Hexcrews 12.9 Armor Plated screws, blue washers, RRP V3 Slipper. I think it's about time to drive this. I may temporarily borrow the brushless system from the Kyosho for this.
Well, crap. Thanks Robin. Sorry to hear about the accident, but thank you for the amazing parts. I've gone sunny side down, shit hurts. Last time I ate shit it took out a femur. I hope all is well.
Updates! Thanks for the super fast shipping Mike!!! I think I may end up with two trucks. Your chassis will be the beater. It's going to be a runner for sure, and I'll keep the Fastlane around in case one of my sons wants to get into the MT game.
Yes, your chassis compliments UE parts nicely! More pics to come.
Comparo - Fastlane and RCM.
I gotta buy a new camera. The one on my new phone sucks. My Galaxy was way better.
