Zippy Basher's Rides - 09.26.2010, 11:43 PM

Well I thought I would start a thread after 2 years of barely posting. This will be an ongoing thread with updates and videos as I can get around to it. PROPS to those who can actually keep an updated thread rolling. I really enjoy them and Thought I should pitch in my share...

You can easily see my rides down below in my Signature. Well Pics I got, because everyone knows that a good thread has good pics. To start are:

Here is my old Rustler that I beat to hell and upgraded to no end before I realized the benefit of 4wd. So after a year of the rustler sitting and me making my GF tag along on bash sessions. Of course, she always ask to drive for a bit, I decided it was time to dedicate the rustler to her... here it is sitting now. Almost ready to roll. It can be used, but with the stock Traxxas radio, it glitches and cogs so badly. It is un-usable. So I will be getting the HK $30 2.4gh Radio for her.
It has FLM Extended chassis, EXT. Arms Front and Rear, C-Hubs. RPM Shock Towers. 20Kg-Cm MG Servo. Raze Wing mount. Mugen wing. 3905 E-Maxx Body. 2.2" Masher 2000's Stretched onto 3.0" Proline 30 series rims. Traxxas BB Shocks /w hard springs special mounted in the rear to lay down farther. MM Velineon and 3s Zippy 4900. YEAH A HANDFUL FOR HER. She will need a lot of practice. (My GF)
Also A great 1/8" 7075 Custom motor Shield
More to come on my Rides...

Well Finally got a chance to update on here and of course keep the thread alive (I Hope) with some pics. Well I've bought the $33 shipped 2.4ghz Radio for my GF from Hobbypartz.com (GREAT Deal, if it works well). And we will be bashing this weekend after some fishing LOL

Anyway, here are some shots of my basher Maxx. She is finally getting around to being able to go a few packs without busting...

I've got some: FLM Chassis RPM Upper arms FLM Lower arms, Traxxas CVDs, LST2 Diffs, UE Towers (Braced in rear, also setup for wing if need be) MMM-1520, 6s Turnigy 5k, mounted below chassis with custom center skid to protect batteries, also FLM Skid. Custom rear toe links from 1/8 buggy. 17mm hex, steel washers, for shocks I have 4 RC8 fronts and 4 OFNA Rears with UE Springs. HCR Ti Skids w/ RPm covers. Hitec 7950TH Servo And GH Steering Setup. Maybe more...

Pics: First Thanks Castle! GREAT SALE!!! This 1520 is HUGE compared to the Medusa 36-70-1600 (Medusa never broke 155* but it'll be a backup).

I've setup the suspension about as maxed out as possible. But with pretty soft springs, It weighs about 12.5 pounds depending on tire combo. So it sits nice and level sitting down; Sags on take off, but takes the bumps very well even at 30mph...

Also I have installed LX-1E Rear upper arms with Lunsford Ti turnbuckles. Broke about 15-20 Stock Rod ends and not one of these yet....

Next on the list is the BUGGY! The best handling of the bunch and I think most versatile. Lowered For Street and Jack the Suspension and it gets more air than the MAXX!!! Here she sits now, all setup for On-Road bashing.

Me and My dad setup our 1/8 Buggies for Road Bashing (Rashing>???). With the CD PACKED with 10k it gets this sucker drifting quite well...

I've added a L8ight Front bumper and Foam, A Stampede Rear body mount, mounted on the wing mount. Setup is a Mamba Max (old school Edition ) 4s Turnigy 40c and CCNeu 2650kv, 14-43 gearing. GRP Rally for street tires...

As you can see I've braced the RCM Mount with 1/4" 6065 tubing, because I hit a curb so hard and actually bent the mount pretty badly, Just put it in the Vice and made it somewhat back to normal. Braced it because I fear its weaker now...

Photobucket

My Dad and Myself bought some Inferno GT Bodies. He Bought the 350z and I bought the WRX.. It makes it so much more fun watching these things scream by at 45-60mph. Just Realistic watching the body roll a bit into the drifts...

That street buggy is badass. I have a streched 1/8 buggy that is setup for the street, need to get it rolling again...

And if you experiment with rx placement you can make am work fine with bl... 2.4ghz is much better, of course.

Thank You! I appreciate it! I will get some pics of my dads buggy tomorrow or saturday. The Gt Bodies are worth the time & $; thats for sure... But they are kinda thin so you gotta get a tube of shoe goo to reinforce the weak spots from the get go.

As promised in another post, here is my Maxx Skid Plate. VERY Simple: 7075 1/8" inspired by a CF/FLM Build I saw here about 2 years ago. Although the bottom is just a skid and I strap the batts to the bottom of the chassis.

Just using the holes tapped from the FLM Chassis, Used 40mm - 3mm and 4mm screws and lock nuts to keep it from bending. wrap it in foam, and done.

Only thing I need is to get that motor lower. Possible CD when $ presents itself. Also, These are my favorite tires, Zombie Maxx. I Stretched them onto so Rulux HalfUps with some Ofna Soft MT Foams. They are about 2 years old and at least 50% tread left and they are SOFT compound.

Thank You! Servo had to be repaired. It sits in the normal spot.

I really like stretching MT tires onto the Half ups. It really cuts down on the sidewall flex. The foams dont get shifted inside as easy either....

I like your wing mount as well. Great Idea. Doesn't look to hard.

Its pretty much a copy of a rear tekno wing mount. 1/8" 7075-t6. Two pieces sandwich the tower

I just leave it on there cause I actually bent the Knucklehead a little bit...

It will take a serious beating now...

How did you bend it? I've never heard of that happening. You must have landing a backflip on the tower with the body off.

It sounds wierd but, I think it was because I had too long of body posts in the rear. It only bent near the "Arm" or "shoulder" of the tower. (Where the Body posts go). And not badly bent, just enough for the body to not line up correctly. I have a bug body, so the roof is round and then having the posts sticking up too high, they caught the ground when I would slide on the lid...

Problem solved itself, Posts shaved themselves down to sit flush with the body. The Body just kind of snaps into place and I dont need rear body clips anymore!
